Best Backyard Bonanza Olive Pickling

Making Raised and Wicking Garden Beds

Add to calendar:
Ever tried pickling olives but forgot to change the water? Did you open a big bucket only to find the fruit covered in mould and other unspeakable grooblies?

Here's your chance to learn the simplest, guaranteed safe and effective way of preserving your olives, if you don't want to make them into oil.

Ceilidh Meo from the Long Road Olive Co-op has been growing and processing olives for both table fruit and oil for over 15 years. This workshop distills all her trial and error into two fail safe preserving methods; one for olives in brine and one for dry cured olives. All materials are provided, but if you want to BYO fruit, please advise when you book as picking preparation is important to the success of your fruit preservation!

Attendance at this event is subsidised for Mount Alexander Shire Council residents through the Local Business Impact grant, so make sure you choose the cheaper ticket price (confirmed against your delivery address).

Please make sure you're wearing kitchen appropriate clothes on the day, including closed toe shoes.

Participants are requested to BYO apron and something to share for lunch, but snacks and preserving equipment will be provided.

Registrations are limited to 16 attendees to ensure everyone has a chance to ask questions as required. Car pooling is encouraged for environmental considerations, so book with a friend and travel together!
