DESCRIPTION:<a href="https://www.lroc.org.au/event/olive-pruning-workshop-1
 2/register">Olive Pruning Workshop</a>\nPruning olive trees is a special s
kill because they respond differently to pruning than all other types of f
ruit trees. You might be surprised to learn that olive trees don't need to
be pruned every year but maybe you want to see your trees produce better
and more consistently? Ceilidh Meo from the Long Road Olive Co-op has been
growing olives and managing groves for over 15 years\, including working
with growers who have suffered fires\, floods and pest and disease infesta
tions on their properties. This workshop will cover the growth habit of ol
ives\, how to decrease their biennial bearing using pruning techniques\, a
nd pruning olive trees for regeneration and regular healthy maintenance.Th
is workshop uses sharp equipment and power tools to prune olive trees. It
is not suitable for children under 12 years of age. Children under 18 can
only attend with the supervision of a paying adult. Please make sure you'r
e wearing appropriate clothes on the day\, including long sleeves and pant
s with closed toe shoes. Long hair should be tied back at all times. This
is an outdoor workshop and you are recommended to check the local weather
forecast closer to the date and dress appropriately. Participants are requ
ested to BYO thermos and/or drink bottle\, but snacks for morning tea and
all equipment will be provided. Tickets are $77pp and registrations are li
mited to 16 attendees to ensure everyone has a chance to ask questions as
required. Car pooling is encouraged for environmental considerations\, so
book with a friend and travel together! Public transport (bus and tram) ar
e also within walking distance of the venue.
